Mother Of The Bride Speeches – my 6 Tips

November 6th, 2009 Stephanie No comments

1) Do You Know A Website For Mother Of The Bride Speeches?
I asked another time for father of the bride speeches but husband said he doesn’t want to stand in front of a huge crowd and say something. I feel I should say something at my daughters wedding and yes I think I am going to be extremely nervous so I want something simple and to the point.

Try something from here: http://www.freeweddingspeech.com/?id_category=47

It’s okay to write it down… and change it around to suit you and your daughter the best.

Congratulations :)

2) Does Any One Know Of A Free Site For Fill In The Blank Mother Of The Bride Speeches?
I am the mother of bride. I am looking for a site that has a fill in the blank page for mother of the bride speeches. I have found several that you have to pay for the templates, but I need something free. I am in charge of getting everything done for the wedding(getting her OK for everything first) and I have 3 other children(8,5,2) who has also got their own things going on-school,ccd,potty training 1st communion, and I am volunteer preschool teacher at ccd. Husband said he will not give a speech, he doesn’t like public speaking. I have a wonderful daughter and she has found a pretty great guy to marry and I would love to give then a halfway descent engagement and wedding speech

3) How Or Where Can I Find Already Done Speeches TO The Mother Of Bride??
im attending a wedding and was asked to say a speech towards the bride’s mother who also happens to be my sister in law.
any helP

Here a few choices
www.freeweddingspeech.com
http://www.wedding-speech.biz/mother-ofthe-bride-speech.html

You can keep it short and simple

4) Anybody Know Any Good Mother Of The Bride Speeches Please?

Usually the mother of the bride doesn’t give a speech. The Best Man and Maid of Honor speeches are optional and are sometimes not done because some people don’t like to talk in front of crowds. The best advice I can give is to speak from your heart. You can’t reiterate a speech that has already been given – most are written for each specific couple and are very personal.

5) Pre-did Speeches To MOTHER OF THE BRIDE FROM WEDDING GUEST?
im attending a wedding and was asked to say a speech TO th emother of the bride. i need some good websites with already done speches or somthing

Google is our friend. Please start using it.
http://www.google.com/

A quick google search revealed lots of sites. Please check them out.

http://www.freeweddingtoasts.net/

http://quotations.about.com/cs/weddingtoasts/a/bls_wed_toasts.htm

http://www.freeweddingspeech.com/?id_category=60

http://www.aragia.com/

http://www.keepandshare.com/htm/wedding_planning/wedding_speeches/best_free_wedding_speeches.php

This last site will write the speech for you.
http://www.songs4teachers.com/weddingspeeches/

As most speeches are to the bride and groom, I am not finding pre-written speeches to a mother. I suggest you incorporate parts of speeches from the first sites, then add your own thoughts to mother-of-bride.

If unable to write this yourself, then you can pay to have a speech written for you. And yes, one can google those sites also.

And it is not so hard to say:
“I have been asked by bride and groom to thank MOB for all the love and support she has given to them.”

6) Can Someone Help Me With The Mother Of The Bride Speech For My Daughter’s Wedding Reception?
It not only is going to be a stressful day for me on my daughter’s wedding day because I am divorced from my daughter’s father and I have not seen or talked to him for many years but my father is very ill and my parents cannot travel therefore they will not be attending the wedding. I need help with writing the speech for the reception and wanted to incorporate my parents not being there on the day to see their first grandchild get married.

ok – maybe this will get your own thought process working! lol
its the speech my dad gave at our wedding

i know that as our guests look at the happy couple they see a young woman and her husband but what i see is a little different.
i see a little girl sitting on her bed waiting for her bedtime story, i see a fresh-scrubbed face laughing at the wind blowing dandelions every which way in the garden. i see a litte girl holding on to my hand for dear life as we send her off to school for the very first time. i see a teary-eyed face looking up at me and asking if her kitten really will go to heaven. i see a teenager waiting on the front porch for her girlfriends to arrive for a sleepover for her 13th birthday. i’ll always see the pride in her face as she graduated and then again as she found her dream job! but for all the happiness i have seen in her face over the years it is nothing compared to the happiness i see shining in her eyes today.
as i stand here i see a younger version of my beautiful wife and i see a young couple much like we were forty-five years ago as we started out on our journey together.
even though the grandparents are no longer with us they are watching and smiling through tears of joy for they know as well as we do that these two youngsters belong together.
my wish for our beautiful daughter and her husband is health and happiness. patience and love. wisdom in dealing with whatever life throws at them and the ability to laugh when they think they can’t possibly laugh anymore.
our family has truly been blessed in life, may that blessing continue on with the two of you!
===================================
as for your parents not being there perhaps you could say something along the line of
even though julie’s grandparents were not able to attend they are with us in spirit. they are looking forward to seeing the video of the wedding and reception and in that small way they will enjoy their first grand-daughter’s wedding day!
julie your grand-parents love you very much and they know that if this young man has captured your heart then he must be a very special young man indeed.
========
i hope this helps – i know its a stressful time for you but i wish you luck! happy wedding!

Father Bride Speech – my 6 Tips

November 5th, 2009 Stephanie No comments

1) Is It Appropriate For My Partner To Mention Me In His Father Of The Bride Speech.?
We are not sure if it is appropriate for my partner to mention me in his Father of the Bride speech for his daughter. Her mum will be there. WE have contributed money towards the occassion and we were just bot sure what was right.

Ask the daughter what she wants. It is her day, not yours.

I wouldn’t single anyone out as that would be tacky. Just state that “we” or “the family” is very happy for them. That is inclusive, which is what a wedding is all about: Bringing families together.

The money comment, “we contributed money…” is very wrong. She will come to hate you if you try to buy her love.

2) Any Good Sites To Help Making Father Of Bride Speech?

this one is great it’ll help you build your speech bit by bit

3) Father Of The Bride Speech?
My dad is worrying about his speech as father of the bride, is there a good website that wont charge for ideas?

4) My Daughter Is Getting Married Next Year. Any Ideas On How To Start My Father Of The Bride Speech.?
Please be as funny as you want to be.

It was difficult to manage her for all these years and i am happy that now somebody else is taking my pain.Thank you all for coming and sharing my happiness.

5) What “Funny” Item Could I Include In My “Father Of The Bride” Speech?
They have 4 under 7yr olds, 2 boys + 2 girls

I’d avoid talking about their kids as it is their special day, talk about a funny memory from when she was a little girl! that will make her remember what an awesome dad i’m sure you are.

5) Father Of The Bride Speech?
My partner has to make a father of the bride speech. The problem is that he raised his daughter on his own – mum left when she was 4, so the usual speeches i.e my wife and I etc. are not really appropriate. Her mum will be at the wedding but mum and dad have not spoken for some years.
Any suggestions

He should talk about what a strong, independent young woman she is & how proud of her he is and how wounderful it has been to see her grow and mature. Best not to mention any conflict, it will just ruin her special day.
Hope it goes well!

Bride Speech – my 3 Tips

November 3rd, 2009 Stephanie No comments

1) Bride Speech?
Can anyone share their bride speech with me. The one that they gave at their reception. my wedding is in one week and I’m stubbed. i just need to read some others to get me started. I’ve looked on Google and such and they are all the same. I’m not looking to copy someone’s I’m just looking for some inspiration! please and thank you

My hubby was not so good on public speaking so i gave the main speech at our wedding….i can’t remember exactly what i said ( i thanked everyone and said the things you are supposed to say) then i shared a story about one of the moments that i knew, without a doubt, that my man loved me.

So maybe you could tell people about what you really thought of your man when you first met, or when you realized that he loved you.

It doesn’t have to be too long but it does have to be interesting! Good luck and all the best for your special day

2) What Do I Write For A Daughter Of The Bride Speech?
I’m 15 years old and my mum is getting married for the fourth time. I am a bridesmaid and have been asked to give a speech. I have no idea how to do it! Do i make it funny or serious, do i put in jokes or make it quite soppy? i don’t know, can anyone help?

Unless you are quite the comedienne, I would keep the speech somber and short. (You never know how people will react to something done in jest). Just say how much you love your mom, and how it’s nice to see her happy. Keep smiling and take your time when you speak. Keeping it short means it will be over with quickly! Have fun! (I hope you have a pretty dress to wear!) :)

3) I Am Trying To Do A Bride Speech And Need An Attention Getter! My Speech Is Tomarrow So Please Help Asap!?
I am doing my speech that I wrote for my wedding for my speech class tomarrow. The only thing is that our teacher for speech wants an attention getter and i dont really have one. Any Ideas!!! Please help!

My teacher says to use the word “imagine” for an attention-getter. So, “Who could ever have imagined what a wonderful day this would be?” or something similar should work.

Father Of The Bride Wedding Speeches – my 9 Tips

November 2nd, 2009 Stephanie No comments

1) What Would Be The Most Memorable Way To Write Wedding Father Speeches?
How would one approach the father of the bride wedding speech so as to ensure the best possible speech?

People often overlook the importance of a good intro to any speech. I firmly believe that if you can hit a home run with your intro then you are halfway to speech stardom. Remember that the day is not about you and do not try to get out of the limelight as fast as you can.

Don’t just say nice things about the bride. Include some examples of the great things she accomplished and the contribution she made to the family. In the whole process try to convey to the guests why she would be an awesome wife and mother. A little humor thrown in can also spice things up but don’t try to start a career as a comic. And lastly practice, practice, practice! It is probably the last chance you will have to praise you daughter in public and it might even strengthen your relationship if done well. For a great resource on father speeches visit http://fatherspeeches.tumblr.com/

2) Anyone Know A Good Uk Site For Wedding Speeches-Bride Father?

try;
www.hitched.co.uk
www.youandyourwedding.co.uk
www.confetti.co.uk
all have information and will probably be able to direct you to more info/ books if you want.
Good luck!

3) What Should I Say At My Wedding Speech To My Brides Father?
He has never really been a part of her life & never bothers with her which is why i dont like him.
I dont want to come across as rude or in any way upset her .Really what should i say in my speech as wev nothing to thank him for.

Ok well that is not a time to appear bitter so just say something short and sweet. Hows this; I would like to thank -state his name- for his beautiful daughter and promise to take good care of her’ ( That will have a double meaning only to you since you know that YOU will do better than he did) It should be a very happy occasion leaving any animosity or problems in the past behind. PLUS you dont know the entire story-was their a divorce? Thats often why guys are not a part of her life since the moms dont let them and criticize them but I better butt out since I dont know the details. Congratulations and let any upsetting thoughts go for the day and just be happy

4) Does Anyone Have Any Sensible Suggestions Or Alternatives To The Formal Wedding Speeches?
I’m after a ‘party’ rather than a wedding reception ‘do’ to celebrate my marriage and don’t particularly fancy the idea of the best-man, father-of-the-bride etc speeches. Any suggestions?

Its your wedding – have what you want – or don’t want.

You don’t have to follow any traditions.

Just don’t have the speeches if you don’t want them.

xx

5) My Dad Is Not Going To Be At Our Wedding Reception – Who Should I Ask To Do The “father Of The Bride Speech”??
My dad is going to be at the ceremony and walk me down the isle, but he has a thing about crowds and does not want to go to the reception. Any ideas on who should be next in line? Or should we miss this speech all together??

Is there another special person in your life that could take this place???

My real father didn’t walk me down the asile, and was not at my wedding, the hero in my life is my step dad. I would not have had my real dad do this for me even if he wanted too.

Think of someone who is special to you, and ask them.

6) Where Can I Find Wedding Speeches?
Where can I find father of the bride speeches

In the father of the bride’s heart. Nothing like a genuine, personal speech that comes from yourself.

7) What Is The Order Of Speeches At A Wedding Reception?
My sister is getting married in September and I’m the maid of honour. I’m just wondering who does speeches at the wedding (like the father of the bride, groom etc), and what is the order?

Formally: Father of the bride, Bridegroom, Best Man.

8) Who Has To Make A Speech At A Wedding? Is It Just The Groom, The Best Man And The Father Of The Bride?
I am the brides mother and I wanted to say a few words. would that be in order?

Well seen as me father is in the pub , maybe you should mother , but don’t you dare mention Tarquin or our Petronella , or Aunty Cissy , or how much money it’s cost you ……xxxx

9) Do You Know A Website For Mother Of The Bride Speeches?
I asked another time for father of the bride speeches but husband said he doesn’t want to stand in front of a huge crowd and say something. I feel I should say something at my daughters wedding and yes I think I am going to be extremely nervous so I want something simple and to the point.

Bride Wedding Speach – my 5 Tips

October 30th, 2009 Stephanie No comments

1) Farther Of The Bride Speach At Wedding What Do They Consist Of?

THESE ARE JUST SPEECH IDEAS…..

WELCOME AND WISHES

1. Start your father of the bride speech telling briefly who you are, not everybody knows that – think about collegues or friends of the bridal couple or the family members of the groom. Tell how long you know them.

2. Welcome and thank the wedding guests for coming and sharing this day if you are the host and there is no master of ceremonies. Especially thank the guests who have come a long distance.

3. Mention some humorous incidents this wedding day so far, and highlight some beautiful moments in your father of the bride speech. One sentence each will do.

4. Wish all a happy day or night.

SPEECH TOPICS ABOUT THE BRIDE

5. Compliment the bride in your father of the bride speech – say that she looks like a beautiful, elegant or lovely bride.

6. Tell the guests about your daughter, emphasize the very special relationship the two of you have. Talk about your love and pride. Let her know how much you care about her. Avoid cliches and talk affectionately. Tease a little bit as father of the bride, make funny remarks of her character, job, study, hobbies, passions, skills or achievements. But be a gentleman.

7. Tell some little silly stories about the bride.

8. Reflect on her prewedding years.

9. Tell about how you and your partner saw her growing up.

10. Tell about your hopes for her. Tell how she has surpassed or maybe foiled the expectations of you and your partner. But be gentle when you come up with the ups and especially the downs in a father of the bride speech! For instance, don’t mention previous boyfriends.

11. And conclude this part of your father of the bride speech with telling how proud you are of her.

ABOUT YOUR NEW SON IN LAW IN A FATHER OF THE BRIDE SPEECH

12. Tell funny stories about your daughter and the groom.

13. Tell how the groom was introduced for the first time to you, how you all first got to know him. That will always work in a father of the bride speech.

14. Tell what your first impressions were. Describe his looks.

15. Tell about the interests you share, about your relationship, about the things that have surprised you.

16. Tell what you have learned from him.

17. Tell how he makes your daughter happy.

18. Tell about his character, job, study, hobbies, passions, skills or achievements.

19. Conclude this chapter of your father of the bride speech with welcoming the groom into your family. Tell that you are delighted he has become a part of your family.

20. Welcome the joining together of your family and the family of your new son in law.

21. Tell you are looking forward to get to know each other better. Mention something both families have in common.

THE THANK YOU’S IN A FATHER OF THE BRIDE SPEECH

22. You as father of the bride has to thank in your speech everyone who made this wedding a succes, thank them for their generous help.

23. Thank the mother of the bride and also maybe the mother of the groom for their efforts in organizing the wedding.

24. Mention the maids of honor/bridesmaids, say how beautiful they look and thank them for their efforts in supporting your daughter.

25. Thank the clergyman, clergywoman or minister.

26. Thank anyone – familymembers and friends – who have helped with the wedding and reception.

27. Thank the florists by saying everything in the church, the town hall and in this room look wonderful.

28. Thank everybody who made any financial contribution to the wedding – do this part of your father of the bride speech with humorous remarks.

29. If your partner has passed away, then now say a few words in her memory. Tell she should say the same warm things about the couple. Welcome to the bride and groom on her behalf too. And then look forward in this wedding speech, this is a happy day!

THE END OF A FATHER OF THE BRIDE SPEECH

30. End your father of the bride speech with a loving toast to the bridal couple. Toast to the health of the bride and groom. Wish them success and happiness in the future. Something like this: Ladies and gentlemen, please be upstanding and raise your glasses, please join me in the traditional toast, I give you … the bride and groom!

Final tip: Mix in now and then some public speaking speech topics with words of wisdom about marriage itself and what it means. Refer to what your own father in law said at your own wedding in his father of the bride speech.

2) I Am The MOH At A Wedding, The Bride Has Given Permission To Another BM To Make A Speach.?
I feel like I am being stripped of all of my jobs, b/c this happened with the shower and the batchlorette party. I don’t know what to do with out getting upset at the wedding.

The bride has a reason, and that’s her business. However, she DID ask you to be her maid of honor and you should realize that means a great deal. Don’t worry about pouting and causing a scene. Just be a gracious lady and you will be glad you did.

3) Any Tips On A Wedding Speach?
Need ideas on a best man wedding speech. I want to incorporate poker into this speech (using poker terms to compare to marriage, comparinge poker hands to the bride/grooms life, etc).

i was maid of honor at my best friends wedding two weeks ago… the best man gave a great speech that likened life to the board game of life, with the taxes, and the cars and all that…. and then added that clearly pete (the groom) was winning because he got allison to love him and agree to marry him.

whatever you say i would urge you to be funny, not make it TOO long, and make it from the heart. tell them how hapy you are for their union and that they found someone to complete them, and thn throw in a joke here or there. don’t get too drunk… it makes things bad.

4) Who Goes First When Giving A Speach At A Wedding?
groom
father of bride
best man
bride
maid of honour

i know the bride and maid of honour dont usually give speachs but in this case we are..dont worry they wont be long ones!

Bride
Father Of Bride
Groom
BEst Man
M. O. H

5) Can Someone Please Give Me An Idea For A Wedding Speach?
the grooms name is josh and the bride name is shana

Begin with a tasteful joke, that’s a common speech method. Don’t forget this is generally considered the bride’s big day, so be sure to complement her on how beautiful she looks, how well the wedding turned out, perhaps how lucky Josh is to have her.

If no one else is making a speech you can go into how Josh and Shana met or even how you met them. But keep it short, people don’t want to hear a half-hour speech about two people they already know!

If drinks are already served, offer a toast and a blessing at the end.
