Mother Of The Bride Speeches – my 6 Tips

November 6th, 2009 Stephanie No comments

1) Do You Know A Website For Mother Of The Bride Speeches?
I asked another time for father of the bride speeches but husband said he doesn’t want to stand in front of a huge crowd and say something. I feel I should say something at my daughters wedding and yes I think I am going to be extremely nervous so I want something simple and to the point.

Try something from here: http://www.freeweddingspeech.com/?id_category=47

It’s okay to write it down… and change it around to suit you and your daughter the best.

Congratulations :)

2) Does Any One Know Of A Free Site For Fill In The Blank Mother Of The Bride Speeches?
I am the mother of bride. I am looking for a site that has a fill in the blank page for mother of the bride speeches. I have found several that you have to pay for the templates, but I need something free. I am in charge of getting everything done for the wedding(getting her OK for everything first) and I have 3 other children(8,5,2) who has also got their own things going on-school,ccd,potty training 1st communion, and I am volunteer preschool teacher at ccd. Husband said he will not give a speech, he doesn’t like public speaking. I have a wonderful daughter and she has found a pretty great guy to marry and I would love to give then a halfway descent engagement and wedding speech

3) How Or Where Can I Find Already Done Speeches TO The Mother Of Bride??

Here a few choices

You can keep it short and simple

4) Anybody Know Any Good Mother Of The Bride Speeches Please?

Usually the mother of the bride doesn’t give a speech. The Best Man and Maid of Honor speeches are optional and are sometimes not done because some people don’t like to talk in front of crowds. The best advice I can give is to speak from your heart. You can’t reiterate a speech that has already been given – most are written for each specific couple and are very personal.

5) Pre-did Speeches To MOTHER OF THE BRIDE FROM WEDDING GUEST?

As most speeches are to the bride and groom, I am not finding pre-written speeches to a mother. I suggest you incorporate parts of speeches from the first sites, then add your own thoughts to mother-of-bride.

If unable to write this yourself, then you can pay to have a speech written for you. And yes, one can google those sites also.

And it is not so hard to say:
“I have been asked by bride and groom to thank MOB for all the love and support she has given to them.”

6) Can Someone Help Me With The Mother Of The Bride Speech For My Daughter’s Wedding Reception?
It not only is going to be a stressful day for me on my daughter’s wedding day because I am divorced from my daughter’s father and I have not seen or talked to him for many years but my father is very ill and my parents cannot travel therefore they will not be attending the wedding. I need help with writing the speech for the reception and wanted to incorporate my parents not being there on the day to see their first grandchild get married.

i know that as our guests look at the happy couple they see a young woman and her husband but what i see is a little different.
i see a little girl sitting on her bed waiting for her bedtime story, i see a fresh-scrubbed face laughing at the wind blowing dandelions every which way in the garden. i see a litte girl holding on to my hand for dear life as we send her off to school for the very first time. i see a teary-eyed face looking up at me and asking if her kitten really will go to heaven. i see a teenager waiting on the front porch for her girlfriends to arrive for a sleepover for her 13th birthday. i’ll always see the pride in her face as she graduated and then again as she found her dream job! but for all the happiness i have seen in her face over the years it is nothing compared to the happiness i see shining in her eyes today.
as i stand here i see a younger version of my beautiful wife and i see a young couple much like we were forty-five years ago as we started out on our journey together.
even though the grandparents are no longer with us they are watching and smiling through tears of joy for they know as well as we do that these two youngsters belong together.
my wish for our beautiful daughter and her husband is health and happiness. patience and love. wisdom in dealing with whatever life throws at them and the ability to laugh when they think they can’t possibly laugh anymore.
our family has truly been blessed in life, may that blessing continue on with the two of you!

5) Wedding Toast/speech Help? From Sister Of The Groom?
I need to prepare a special occasion speech for a public speaking class. 3-5 minutes long. I am doing a toast for my brother’s wedding. It’s only 1 minute so far…

Good evening everyone. It is with great joy that I say congratulations to my brother Craig and his beautiful new bride, Tiffany. They say there is someone out there for everyone, and I think that Craig has definitely found his other half with Tiff.
From the first time I met Tiffany, I knew she was someone special to my brother. As I got to know Tiff more she became someone who is special to me as well. Tiffany, you’re everything I could ever want for my brother and I am pleased to welcome you to our family. Over the last few years we have already become like sisters, as of today it’s official.
Craig, I am so happy for you. You are going to be a great husband. Ronald Reagan said, “There is no greater happiness for a man than approaching a door at the end of a day, knowing someone on the other side of that door is waiting for the sound of his footsteps.” When I see the happiness that radiates from you when you are with Tiffany and when you see her smile, I know that you agree with Reagan.
I wish you both the greatest happiness throughout your lives. May the best of your yesterdays
be the worst of your tomorrows. Let’s all raise our glasses in honor of the bride and groom!

Sounds good except for the VERY beginning. “It is with great joy that I say congratulations” came off sounding like a reverse eulogy to me. Maybe you could say, I am honored and elated to be standing here to honor two of the most special people in my life, my brother Craig and his beautiful new bride, Tiffany.

Kudos on killing two birds with one stone by using your toast as your speech topic for your class! :)
Good luck!

6) What Is The Worst Wedding Speech That You Have Heard Of?
Or maybe not the worst but the most unforgettable that you’ve been to. Either from bride, groom, best man, or maid of honor.

My father was the best man for my brother. During his speech, he said that my brother picked up his new wife “on the corner like all the others” and kept her because “she did a good job with him”. It was SO embarassing for everyone, my brother and his wife were motified and my dad didn’t think he did anything wrong. Comparing the new bride to a hooker, nothing wrong with that, right?! That was pretty bad…

Good luck!

7) Wedding Speech For A Bride!?
ok I was married previously and after 5 yrs I left and got divorced.

I was shocked at the amount of prejudice there still is in this day and age about divorce and had quite a hard time with some friends and family voicing opinions…plus had quite a hard time from ex husband who just wouldnt let go and things turned nasty and lawyers wer involved.

Anyway I haved moved on now engaged to great guy and have a 2 yr old boy who i adore and i am getting married again…a small and intimate affair.

I want to say something kinda saying about my past and even tho i was divorced once marriage i still take marriage seriously but just dont know how to put it into words any ideas?

That’s a tough one! I wouldn’t bring it up. Maybe you could 2say something like “I’m looking forward to creating a happy family with my son and wonderful new husband. Here’s to many joyous years together.” i think that very subtly says that this is something you are taking seriously. I think you’re right. There is too much prejudice against 2nd marriages. It’s always a happy occasion when two people find love – no matter what happened in the past.

8) Is This Appropriate In A Wedding Speech?
My sister is getting married soon and I’ll(brother) be delivering one of the speeches.. Anway, I wanted to say somewhere in the speech, “…the bridesmaids are looking very nice, but not as beautiful as the bride is tonight” Something like that. Does this sound weird coming from her brother? Let me know what you think.

No, it’s not weird. It’s so sweet coming from a younger or older brother. I think it’s cute of you to compliment her. =) You could say that “the bridesmaids look beautiful, but the most beautiful person tonight is the [insert adjective -- blushing, happy, etc.] bride.” (I think that’s phrased better and less likely to hurt the bridesmaids’ feelings.)

3) Any Ideas For A Speech At A Wedding Where The Son Is Giving Away His Mother As A Bride?
My boyfriend is giving away his mother at her wedding and he is scared about the speech! Any good ideas or short openers for the speech would be great.

well start by saying how happy you are that your mom is happy-then tell the story of the first time you met her new husband (make jokes about how you felt ) – and then finish by saying I love you mom and I really wish you guys the best

4) Where Can I Find An ‘already’ Done Speech TO The Mother Of The Bride?
im a wedding guest and also the bride’s aunt. i need to dedicate a speech towards the mother of the bride. i need a finished nice, short m but quality speech websites.. anything please !

Why can’t you write it yourself? They asked to hear what you though, not what some person on the internet that will never meet the MOB said. If they cared about enough to make a toast, I am sure they will forgive any shortcomings with your public speaking. Just think of some nice things about the MOB, mention any assistance (besides money) that she helped with and thank her for making the evening more enjoyable for everyone.

5) Does The Bride Have To Make A Speech At Her Wedding Nowadays?
I’ve been to many weddings lately where the bride and mother of the bride both give a speech. Is this mandatory nowadays?

Of course they can do a speech if they want to but if you don’t want to I don’t think an entire speech is required. You should definately get up with your husband and thank your guests for coming, show your appreciation to anybody who helped make the wedding happen and let the guests know how much their prescenece means to you. If you are super shy you can kinda tag team this part and have your new husband say some. Here’s example:

Introduction as you enter reception, do your first dance as man and wife, then go up on stage. “Wow! Thank you all for coming, its nice to see so many of you have taken time to help us celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents, the bridal party who spent all those hours licking invitation envelopes, and our friend Carol who set us up on our first date all those years ago….without your help this day wouldn’t have been possible. Seeing all the love and support in this room from you guys truly puts the icing on the cake and our wedding just wouldn’t have been complete without you. So! Lets eat some of this great food, I know my stomach’s rumbling, and really get this party started!”

7) Who Has To Make A Speech At A Wedding? Is It Just The Groom, The Best Man And The Father Of The Bride?
I am the brides mother and I wanted to say a few words. would that be in order?

Well seen as me father is in the pub , maybe you should mother , but don’t you dare mention Tarquin or our Petronella , or Aunty Cissy , or how much money it’s cost you ……xxxx

8) I Would Like To Have Help With Anything For A Mother To Say To Her Daughter At Her Wedding Reception Speech?
I want to have some ideas of what to say when the mother of the bride has her turn to say things about her daughter at her wedding reception

I can see that you are most exited and very nervous about your daughter’s wedding. So you should be. Just hope that he is the for-ever Mr. X & not for now Mr. X.

What-ever you do try and relax or at least try and not be nervous.

Do listen to what all of us are saying to you.

But do make sure that you do not use anyone’s particular words or you will mess-up anything that you might say.

Just juggle-up all that’s been said to you here and anywhere else.

Take it into abstract and then subtract your own words to match the particular situation of your daughter, her new found partner and their weeding as well as possible throwing in something between you and your daughter and or your daughter and the family and friends.

But as al ready said what-ever you decide to say do make sure that it’s not going to be a long story or you’ll loose the attention and interest of all or at least most and you’ll be nothing more than a flunk.

The most important thing is to just be and or speak as your normal self and concentrate on a few short but nice points about your daughter and her wedding.

My Best Wishes for the best wedding yet.
